Tinkerbell and Peter Pan Swag!

Tinkerbell and Peter Pan!

MAC #2 Lashes

Though I didn't feel great on Saturday, I dragged my ass to the bar for a few hours in my Tinkerbell costume. I didn't go overboard with my makeup this year, since I wasn't feeling too good and because I wanted to go with a more ethereal look for Tinkerbell. Here's what I used:

Face
  • Foundation/Concealer
  • NARS Illuminator on the cheeks (for that glowy skin)
  • Smashbox blush on the cheeks
Eyes
  • UD Primer Potion
  • Tarina Tarantino Magic Hour Cream Shadow in Starchild
  • Sula Silver Eye Pencil (underneath eyes)
  • MAC #2 lashes (and an obscene amount of eye lash glue that I am STILL finding in my eyes, hair, etc. Attractive, right?)
  • Almay black liquid liner (on top of falsies to hide any white from the glue or space inbetween fake and real lashes - good tip, I assure you!)
Lips
  • Tarte LipSurgence in Flashy

Cute, eh? =) Hope everyone is having a great Halloween today!

Beauty Quote of the Day

"I don't think I could live without hair, makeup and styling, let alone be the performer I am. I am a glamour girl through and through. I believe in the glamorous life and I live one."

A Flat Iron Straight From Heaven

Cortex Platinum 1.25 Inc Hair Straightener

This hair straightener had to be made by God himself. Yes, it's THAT good. I've been straightening my hair for years now (despite the potential damage) and have gone through so many flat irons I have actually lost count. Some of them don't get hot enough, some of them don't flatten out all the waves, some of them BURN your hair...we're talking horror stories here folks.

Enter Cortex straightener. I could kiss the person who created this. Normally $250, my lovely mother found it in Marshall's for $19.99. She bought one, and loved it so much that she went back and bought one for me. Isn't she the greatest?

This thing is seriously magic. I can flat iron my entire head in about 5 minutes. One pass over each section of hair, and you're done. As the day goes on, my hair stays perfectly straight without creating waves or getting frizzy. A friend of mine is a hair stylist, and she was overjoyed when this tool was being offered at such a low price that she bought one too! If you don't have a Marshall's around you (or they don't have anymore) look online for better prices. If you're not happy with the flat iron you have now, trust me, you will love this one. It rocks!!

Have a great weekend!!

Get the Perfect Hair Color - From Your iPhone

There really IS an app for everything, huh? The company Pravana has developed a pretty cool app for the iPhone called the Pravana Chromasilk Formulator. How to Use: Enter your natural hair color, and any grey hair you might have. Choose what color you would like your hair to be. The app will give you color suggestions, and the hair color formula needed to achieve that hair color.

You guys interested in apps like this?

Are You a Makeup Returner?

I'm not. It would probably make sense to return a makeup item that I really didn't like, or know that I would never use it again. I guess it just seems like too much work haha. I'm the same way with clothing too - even though something doesn't fit (unless it's expensive) I usually won't bring it back to the store to return it.

What about you guys? If you try a lipstick and don't like it, will you bring it back to the store? Just curious!

PS: The above photo of me dancing like a jackass at a wedding has nothing to do with this post. It was just added for your entertainment.

New "Discoball" Necklace

My new necklace! I bought it at Henri Bendel in New York, and have been wearing it daily. I wanted a piece that I could wear with basically anything, and this fits the description perfectly.

As you can see, I am still sporting my crazy discoball nails haha! Weirdly enough, i've been getting lots of compliments on them, even though I still think they're a bit tacky. Maybe the nails inspired the discoball-esque necklace? =)

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Maybelline Baby Lips - Just Another Lip Balm?

Unfortunately, yes. But to be honest, I didn't expect much from this product. It was more of an impulse buy at CVS, and I just convinced myself that I needed to try it. Well I did, and i'm sorry to report that it's nothing exciting - really.

I got the clear (in Peppermint), because I figured I could always use it for the winter when my lips get chapped. They do come in different shades - pink, purple and so forth. My issue with the shades, is that the lip balm stick is very thick, therefore making the application of color rather difficult. It was only $4 so I guess there was really no harm done, but if you're looking for the latest and greatest lip balm I don't think this one is it. Further, Baby Lips has an "8 hour hydration" claim which I can assure you it does not last that long.

Sorry for the Negative Nancy review guys, i'll try to review something I really like next to make up for it! =)

Disco NOTD

Festive, eh? I saw this chunky, glitter polish at Ulta in the clearance section for $2! I couldn't pass it up. I used the Sephora silver one which I had already, and layered two coats of the glitter on top. They remind me of a glittery discoball haha!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Daphne Guinness - Why Is She So Damn Cool?

Long before Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Rihanna came Daphne Guinness in all of her fierce glory. Daphne is an artist, fashion enthusiast, and an heiress of the Guinness beer family.

Known for her outrageous and extremely stylish outfits, she has landed on best dressed lists for years. She is a collector and lover of haute couture clothing, and has a fascination with amour in fashion. I also think she is one of the only people that can pull off the two-toned blonde/black hair look. Aside from the fashion world, she is also involved in the wonderful world of cosmetics, even being the face of a NARS campaign.

So judging from the above photos and story, THAT is what makes her so damn cool.

Pedi Cab Confessionals

My best friend and I took a pedicab last night. I'm surprised we survived!
Such a fun way to see the city, even though I see it every day.
All while wearing red lipstick...

Happy Friday!

Tarte LipSurgence - 5 Shades for $29!

WOW! I couldn't believe my eyes when I read a fellow bloggers' post on this incredible deal! ONE LipSurgence usually goes for $25 - Tarte is now offering FIVE full-sized LipSurgence tints for $29. I was interested in this product when it first launched, now i'm glad I waited! I would say the LipSurgence is a happy medium between a Clinique Chubby Stick (click here for my review), and a Lipstick Queen Gloss Pencil (click here for my review). The fomula is silky and glossy with a nice shine to it. I usually moisturize my lips first with a lip balm and pat dry, just so the tiny doesn't highlight any cracks in my lips. See below for swatches of each!

Swank

Dazzled

Perky

Flashy

Glitzy

left to right: Swank, Dazzled, Perky, Flashy, Glitzy

I think Swank is my favorite - it's a wearable, daytime red that's pretty and glossy. My least favorite is probably Glitzy, only because it's more on the brown/nude side and I don't think it's flattering on me. All in all, I would wear 4 out of the 5 shades, so it was totally worth it to buy the set.

Anyone else try these? What's your favorite shade? xoxo

Cat-Eye Friday

The liner I used:

The brush: A thin, flat gel liner brush

I was feeling kinda FRIDAY today, so I wanted to do a thicker eye liner for the occasion. I just bought this Tarte gel liner and I like it a lot. It glides on easily, and the brush comes with it. It's waterproof, but comes off quickly with eye makeup remover. I'm still perfecting my cat eye look, but I think i'm improving! As most chicks know, this is no easy task =)

The shadow I used was tokidoki's Riposino, and the mascara is (as always) MAC's Haute and Naughty lash. You guys like it? Hope everyone has an amazing weekend!! xoxo

Celebrity Makeup and Skincare Lines

First came the celebrity fragrance craze. It seemed like half the fragrance section in a department store had celeb perfumes sprawled all over it. Although that is still going strong - some stars that have been successful just keep churning out more and more scents - the new craze seems to be celebrity skincare and makeup collections. Here are the newest ones that I've found:

Heidi Klum - In an Instant
I saw this on an infomercial while getting ready for work one morning. Heidi and another woman demonstrate this product and it seemed to work nicely. It immediately fills in lines around the eyes to freshen up your look. I know, I sound like such a sucker right now huh? Oh look, it's a miracle! No more under eye lines! I'm not sure that i'll be shelling out the $40 for it, but at least it's not another fragrance.

Cindy Crawford - Meaningful Beauty
Another infomercial "gem." I groaned when I saw that Cindy Crawford developed her own skincare line. I mean I guess it makes sense - former model, obvious good looks, why not "share the wealth" with the rest of us chicks? I can't help but be skeptical of this - none of the products jump out at me as being unique or interesting in anyway. Further, I doubt that your inner Cindy Crawford is going to magically sprout out when using one of these face cremes. I know, i'm being a total Debbie Downer right? Well, someone prove me wrong! =)

Salma Hayek - Nuance
Salma launched Nuance, which includes everything from makeup, to skincare, haircare, body care, and so forth. I read up on this more, and it seems like she played a huge part in developing these items, which I totally respect. She didn't just hire someone to create this then slap her name and likeness on the front. I've read a few reviews on blogs about the makeup items, and they seemed pretty positive. Good for her, sounds like she worked hard for this!

JWOWW - JWOWW Skincare
OK i'm using the term celebrity pretty loosely here. Aside from just launching her own line of tanning products (sold at tanning parlors) JWOWW from Jersey Shore is launching her own line of skincare items, which include a facial cleanser, an eye cream and a color enhancing moisturizer. I doubt this will be on counter next to La Mer, but it might do well in a Walmart or Target.

Jessica Simpson - BeautyMint
Jessica Simpson is the Queen of branching out into different business ventures and being successful. Shoes, handbags, a line of eatable bath products, a hair extension line, not to mention her music career. Launching in October, Jessica has teamed up with a skincare expert and formed BeautyMint. BeautyMint "has personalized monthly skincare system which combines the most advanced anti-aging technology and science with natural ingredients" according to Cocoperez.com. She's been wildly successful before, so I wouldn't be surprised if this took off too. Get that $$$ girl!

Dita Von Teese - Makeup Line coming soon
I was surprised to find out that Dita Von Teese sells her own shampoo, conditioner and hairspray on her website - did you guys know that? The more exciting news came yesterday, when Dita annouced via Twitter that she has a makeup line in the works! I've always admired her makeup and retro style, so I was geeking out that she is developing her own beauty line. This is one I will definitely be checking out. There is no timeline as of yet, but when I get more updates on when it will launch I will let you guys know!

What do you guys think, any interest in these celebrity skincare and beauty lines? Share with us!
