Love it! I was walking around NYC during my lunch break,
and came across the cutest pen in the world!
The bullet acts as a cap, pen is underneath =)

MAC Fall Programs - The Verdict

MAC is one of my favorite brands - they are always coming out with new programs that are creative and exciting. Here are the current programs MAC has on counter currently, and of course a little commentary from yours truly =) Let me know what you guys think!

Styledriven
The visual:
So sexy! It has a vintage, yet modern feel with the perfect pair of red lips!

The collection:
The makeup is all from the Prolongwear franchise and is made to LAST.
I might invest in one of the lip pencils to fill in my lips before applying lipstick.

Art of Powder

The visual:
Love it. It makes powder look exciting, which is kind of a hard task

The collection:
The 3 products shown above are actually all different -
one is a highlighter, one is an eyeshadow and one is a bronzer.
I think the concept is cool, and the design on the powders are bitchin!

Seasonally Supreme

The visual:
It's "eh" for me. Nothing special

The collection:
12 Sheen Supreme lipsticks. I like the range of shades, and I also like the skinny tube.

Fall Colour: Angel Flame

The visual:
I'm sure these photos are on just about every blog now,
but seriously...WTF.

The collection:
...is normal. A mix of lipglasses, an eyeshadow quad, mineralize skinfinish etc.
All shades are in the pinky/beige family which is nice if you want natural makeup.
Try not to copy the above makeup though...

Fall Colour: Wild Colour

The visual:
Horrifying. Everyone hates clowns, myself included.
So I don't get the "creative" aspect of this, it's just plain miserable.

The collection:
Equally as horrifying. BRIGHT pigments, shadows, pencils and lipsticks.
The only thing I would ever use these shades for is Halloween.
Maybe that's what they were going for? I can only hope.

Fall Colour: Midnight Blue

The visual:
What girl doesn't want to look like a street walker? Oh...me.

The collection:
Great, actually. Aside from the hideous lipstick above,
all the items are useful and wearable - falsies, nail lacquers, pencils, brushes, etc

Posh Paradise

The visual:
In LOVE! It's so amazing, the hair is so fierce and so is the makeup & background

The collection:
Another LOVE! As some of you read,
I bought the lipstick Rare Exotic from this collection and think it kicks major ass.
It is insanely long-wearing and the colors are beautiful.
The collection has a mix of Mattene lipsticks, paint pots and 2 nail lacquers.

Matchmaster Foundation

The visual:
Very Pretty!

The collection:
This foundation promises to be "invisible" with coverage influenced by your own skin.
Sounds good to me, I haven't tried it yet so stay tuned on this one.

What collection is your favorite?

What Beauty Products Do You Use Until the Last Drop?

I saw this question on Allure.com and it got me thinking - I buy so many products. Like, lots of them. Certain things I get tired of and only use a few times. Other things that I LOVE I will scrape out of the jar/tube like my life depends on it.

Here are my scrape-the-bottom-until-there's-nothing-left products:

  1. Foundation or base - I'll confess, I hate buying foundation. It's not fun or interesting, it's more of a necessity. Therefore, I use up every last bit of it!
  2. Mascara - I use my Haute & Naughty mascara from MAC every day. When I ran out a few weeks ago and was forced to use a few others I had laying around, it was torture. If you're used to your lashing looking a certain way, then you start using a mascara that just doesn't do it for you, it's miserable.
  3. Primers - whether it be the UD Primer Potion, or the MAC Prep + Prime face powder, I always find myself replacing them once they run out. Priming in my mind is necessary if you want your makeup to last longer!
  4. Eyeliner - black eyeliner (accompanied with a different eye shadow and mascara each day) is my go-to look most days. Replacing it is a must.
  5. Face toner & Makeup Remover - Again, not the most fun beauty products to buy, but I can't get by without them.

On the flip side, doing this little list made me think of all the products I DON'T use up. All the eyeshadows, lipsticks, glosses, perfumes, etc that I buy and just sit there after I tire of them. Of course, every beauty product you buy won't be ideal or perfect - that's the fun of trying new things. But I do feel like my makeup cabinet is somewhat of a beauty graveyard in a way. I know, kinda morbid but MOST things I buy I don't use up.

So what does that mean? I'm going to try and not buy as many things. I know, my heart is racing too at the thought of LESS makeup, but i'm going to make a conscious effort to only buy something if I'm in love with it.

What do you guys think, what products do you always use up? Also, what products do you never use up? I'd be interested to see if your answers are similar to mine! <3

MAC Mattene Lipstick in Rare Exotic

Rare Exotic

LOVE!

4 hours later - no reapplication!

Skinny little lipstick =)

Shameless Vogue

It's been a while since I've wreaked havoc in the MAC Times Square store, so that's exactly what I did yesterday! While refilling my favorite mascara - Haute & Naughty lash - the new Posh Paradise collection caught my eye. I LOVE skinny lipsticks - they are so easy to apply because of the slim bullet, especially for bold colors. I feel in love with Rare Exotic and made the executive decision to buy it.

First of all, the color is gorgeous! After wearing my Dior Addict lipstick for WEEKS, I need to change up my shade. Rare Exotic is a bold, punchy pink that is perfect for fall. It goes on nice and smooth, and the staying power amazed me - after 4 hours (and a few cups of coffee later) the lipstick pretty much stayed put without feathering or creasing.

Happy to say that I made the right choice with my impulse buy! =)

Kate Spade Beauty Has Arrived!

Hi dolls! I did a blog post awhile back about Kate Spade doing a beauty line (to read it, click here). Well, it's finally here! The SUPERCALIFRAGILIPSTICK collection includes 4 lipsticks, 2 makeup bags, a scarf and a necklace. Check it out:

Pop Art Pink - $24

Fuchsia Fete - $24

Bashful Blush - $24

Adventurous Red - $24

Scarf - $155

Necklace - $78

Small Makeup Bag - $60

Big Makeup Bag -$85

I think the lipsticks look fierce! The packaging is very attractive with the gold case, and I like that it says "pucker up" on the side =) I also think they picked the perfect 4 shades for the lipsticks - something for everyone.

However I am disappointed in the makeup bags! First, the design doesn't do it for me at ALL. They could have really had fun with this idea and decorated the bags with little lipsticks or lips or something other than weird swatches. And for the price, I don't think i'll be picking them up any time soon. I know it's Kate Spade and the brand isn't cheap, I was just hoping for more creativity. But that's just my opinion, of course. I am very interested in trying the lipsticks though.

What do you guys think?

Summer to Fall Blush Switch

In honor of the lovely fall weather (and my summer tan doing a disappearing act) I’ve decided to switch up my blush. After my NARS fiasco (my Orgasm blush broke into pieces…twice) I purchased Bella Bamba by Benefit. I loved it for summer – it was so bright, pinky & punchy and looked great with my tan.

Now that the fun and sun is over, I wanted a blush that was more natural that I could use everyday.

Smashbox has long been a favorite brand of mine.
This is the first Smashbox blush I've purchased =)

Smashbox Blush Rush in Silhouette
It's a lot darker and more brown than Bella Bamba

Swatch

It's been working out great so far! Since it is a more natural shade, I do put on a few layers of it. It gives you a nice flushed look without looking overdone.

Teased Wedding Hair - Jersey Style

What is it about getting a simple blow out at the hair salon that just makes you feel...ahhhh.
Wish I could get my hair done every day!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Happy Makeup Monday!

The Return of Sarah Michelle Gellar

Geeking! Sarah Michelle Gellar looks amazing in these promo photos for her new show, The Ringer. Since my boyfriend and I both have a huge crush on her, we DVR'd the show and are going to watch it later. She's been out of the spotlight for a minute, but I'm so glad she's back! Cruel Intentions, Buffy, what's not to love?

And whatever she's wearing in the first photo, I NEED it.

Tria - At Home Permanent Hair Removal Laser

I've been hearing some buzz about this laser and wanted to do a post on it =) It might not be the "prettiest" of beauty topics to cover, but hey, it's a situation that everyone has to deal with right (unfortunately). To give you some background, this is from the Tria beauty website about the laser:

"The TRIA Hair Removal Laser is the only laser that delivers permanent results at home. Made by the same scientists who created the gold standard for in-office laser hair removal, the TRIA Laser delivers forever-smooth skin liberated from shaving, waxing, stubble, razor burn and ingrown hairs. See less hair growth in 90 days and become hair-free in as little as 6 months (and save time and money versus in-office treatments)!"

Being the skeptic I am, I have a hard time believing that you will have no hair FOR-EV-ER after using this product. I know a few women who have been "tria-ing" their little hearts out and using this product religiously, so I guess only time will tell the true results. I am very intrigued though, especially because it's made by the same people who created the in-office hair removal lasers. Admittedly, it would be just dandy to never have to shave my legs again after using it for 6 months. But beware, Tria hopefuls - it comes with a pretty hefty price tag - $395!

Michelle Willams as Marilyn Monroe - Pretty or Tacky?

I think she does look beautiful, but not too sure how I feel about this. What do you guys think?

Orofluido Beauty Elixir - Product Review

Orofluido's Beauty Elixir

What it promises

My friend gave me a sample of Orofluido Beauty Elixir. I've never used a hair oil type product before, so I didn't know what to expect. My scalp tends to get oily, so I try to go easy on the styling products I use to avoid weighing my hair down.

You can use the Beauty Elixir on wet or dry hair. I tried it once I got to work when my hair was dried and straightened. After using a flatiron almost daily, the front of my hair gets a bit frizzy. I used the Elixir on the front strands where the frizziness was happening, and it totally smoothed it down! I used only a few drops as instructed so my hair didn't look greasy and gross. On top of the product erasing frizz, it smells amazing! That type of amazing when you keep sniffing your hair like a psycho.

I was interested in learning more about the Beauty Elixir, so I visited http://www.orofluido.com. It looks like their products have been nominated for a few awards which is pretty cool. The company also has a shampoo and conditioner, shine spray and a hair mask, all with pretty gold packaging.

Once my sample runs out, I might need to buy the full size! I've tried many things to tame frizz, and this one actually works. Plus, i'm a sucker for things that smell good ha!

15 Unusual Uses for your Hair Dryer!

I saw this cool article and wanted to share it with you guys! Enjoy

  • If you need to quickly set the icing on a cake, the air and heat of a hair dryer can quicken up the process.
  • If your cake won’t unstick from the cake pan, use your hair dryer on the bottom of the pan then invert it, it should drop right out.
  • Running an ice cream scoop under hot water helps, but you can also try using a hair dryer on the carton to soften ice cream for easy scooping.
  • Some people use pots of boiling water to quicken freezer defrosting, but a hot hair dryer works even more quickly. (Be careful of puddles of water and the dryer, though.)
  • Automatic ice-makers can get jammed with frozen ice; relieve that with a long blast of hot air to melt unwanted icebergs.
  • Remove contact paper from shelves by heating it with the hair dryer and gently working the edges up. Also works for bumper stickers and other rogue sticky things.
  • Use a hair dryer to dust hard-to-dust items; the air will blow the dust somewhere else, but hopefully somewhere else that is easier to dust.
  • Personally, I like my kids’ crayon marks on my walls, but for the rest of you: Heat the crayon marks until softened, then scrub with hot water and detergent.
  • Old photo albums with magnetic pages can get stuck -- unstick them with a blast from the hair dryer.
  • Spot-iron wrinkles by lightly dampening the area and then heating the wrinkles with your dryer.
  • Wet boots, shoes, and sneakers can take on a terrible odor if left to dry slowly -- alleviate that by drying them with your hair dryer.
  • Winter can bring frozen windows and locks -- thaw them with a hair dryer.
  • Window screens collecting dust and pollen? Blow it back to whence it came.
  • Removing bandages can hurt more than the wound, so soften the adhesive with a hair dryer first to ease the rip.
  • If you have trouble keeping a hot compress hot, keep your hair dryer by you and reheat as necessary.
I really love the idea of using your hair dryer for baking!

Red Carpet Manicure - At Home Gel Nails

My most trusted makeup source and mentor - my mother - told me about this new system called Red Carpet Manicure. It's essentially an at home gel manicure system that allows your nails to stay put for 3-4 weeks! The company promises “Get a long lasting Gel Manicure in 3 Easy Steps!”

I’ve had gel nails for a number of years, and loved how low maintenance they were. No chips, no breaking, just a beautiful, shiney French manicure that always looked fresh. As most of you know, I hate sitting there to get my nails done, so going once every 3 or 4 weeks was a dream for me! I got lazy and stopped getting gel nails, and am kind of kicking myself for it since regular manicures chip so easily.

Anyway,Red Carpet Manicure (or RCM for short) sounds like an amazing system! Gel nails at home while I watch trashy reality television? Great! RCM is sold exclusively at Ulta - all of the below items including the LED light can be purchased there. Here are the steps and what you will need:

Red Carpet Manicure - Portable LED Light ($19.99)

Step 1: Prep
This gets the nail ready for product to be applied

Step 2: Structure Base Coat Gel
Apply, let dry under LED light for 1 minute

Step 3: LED Gel Polish
Apply, let dry under LED light for 3 minutes
There is over 30 shades to pick from!

Step 4: Brilliance Top Coat Gel
Apply, let dry under LED light for 2 minutes

And there it is! A beautiful manicure (hopefully).
To remove anything sticky or unwanted, use Purify (below) with a cotton pad
This step isn't VITAL, i'm just giving you guys all the facts! =)

When the gel manicure has seen better days,
use this Gel Remover Polish Remover to take it off:

Mom and I did the math, and after all is said and done, each manicure using RCM would cost $2.90. UNDER $3 for a gel manicure!!!! At a salon, gel nails are usually $45. That one salon manicure is probably the same price as all of the items you'll need to buy for Red Carpet Manicure, which you can use over and over. Just something to think about!

So I obviously LOVE the idea and need to buy it! My mother and I have talked about it on the phone for 2 days now, and we are on the hunt for these products! The Ulta by her is out of it, so I'm going to check tonight to see if I have any luck at a different Ulta. If I find it, I will definitely try it out and give it a thorough review!

Would you guys try it?
