December 2011 Magazine Covers - Best & Worst

Overall, I was very entertained with the December 2011 magazine covers this month! As always, I've included US covers, as well as a few from various other countries. Let me know what you guys think!

Bazaar Espana

Not sure who this is, but she looks hott and I couldn't get over these shoes.

THE SHOES. OMG. GIMME.

Nicole Scherzinger for Shape

I love the dress. Because it's such a statement piece,

they did the right thing by keeping her hair and makeup simple.

Very natural and pretty!

Scarlett for Vanity Fair

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this cover.

It's so elegant and classic. The hair and makeup really compliment each other here.

I also love that Scarlett changes her hair often, she keeps things interesting. Gorgeous!

Michelle Williams for Elle UK

OK so i'm really torn about this one.

One one hand, I love that it portrays a white Christmas/Holiday feel

On the other hand, I really don't like Michelle's hair and makeup at all.

Lea Michele for Allure

I'm not a Glee person at all, but I think she looks great!

The cat eye really grabs your attention,

and the blush and lippy they used on her compliments her skintone perfectly.

Kim K for Marie Claire

Fresh off the heels of her 72 day marriage, Kim had the time to pose for Marie Claire.

I can't stand that Marie Claire gave her more publicity than she already has, and was annoyed when I saw her on their cover. That aside, they ditched the usual 10 pounds of makeup Kim usually wears, and went for a more natural look. It's pretty, but please go away for a while.

Jessica Simpson for Lucky

The soon to be new mommy looks the best she has looked in a long time!
A touch of mascara, pretty pink lip and long flowing locks really lights up her face.

I like the fun top she's wearing too, I recently bought one just like it for a holiday party =)

Jessica Biel for Elle US

Is it just me, or does her face look kind of vampire-ish?

I can't put my finger on it, bad photoshop maybe?

I can't get passed how her face looks in this photo so everything else was a waste for me.

J Lo for Glamour

This has really been J Lo's year - between American Idol,

being named People's Most Beautiful Person,

various product endorsements and making major $$$!

The makeup is nothing special, but it works for her - same with the hair.

The real standout for me on this cover was the bitchin jewelry she's wearing!

Amy Adams for In Style

This is another one - her face looks strange to me???

Looks like all the mag editors have been favoring sequined tops

and dresses for their shoots though huh?

Kristen Stewart for Glamour Espana

I think my boyfriend said it best, "Why does she look like she's pooping?"

I couldn't agree more. Weird pose, and the usual scowl on her face that ruins

any pretty hair and makeup done on her. Fail.

Jennifer Aniston for Elle China

I think she looks like a wax figure here.
She is so beautiful, so I'm not sure why they felt the need to butcher her face on this cover.

Especially when the title says, "Ageless Beauty." Yuck.

Dianna Agron for Nylon

This is cute! It's very Twiggy/60's and very Nylon.

The bold eyes really draw you in.

The key - eye liner and mascara on the top and bottom lashes. LOTS of both.

The Fanning sisters for W

I've posted this one previously, but wanted to include it in this post because I love it so much!

The golden hair and clothing are really complimented by the girls' bright blue eyes.

They both look like pretty little dolls!

Jessie J for Cosmo UK

Jessie J is my new obsession - I just think she's so damn cool.

This cover made me laugh, between the weird headpiece and kooky outfit.

But I think it works on her! The angular haircut and punchy red lips pull the edgy look together.

Adele for Cosmo US

I love this! Adele always has a flawless cat eye - it's kind of become her signature look.

I also really like the peachy blush they used on her.

Charlize Theron for Vogue

I thought this was a really pretty and interesting choice for a Decemeber cover - the ocean!

I think she looks beautiful and natural. I wish we saw more of her!

Lady Gaga for Vanity Fair - January 2012

OK I was a little too excited about this one and didn't want to wait until next month to share it!

I love the all red ensemble and the oversized hat - all matching her lipstick!

So much fun and very Gaga.

What was your favorite cover this month?

What Beauty Products Do You Use Until the Last Drop?

I saw this question on Allure.com and it got me thinking - I buy so many products. Like, lots of them. Certain things I get tired of and only use a few times. Other things that I LOVE I will scrape out of the jar/tube like my life depends on it.

Here are my scrape-the-bottom-until-there's-nothing-left products:

  1. Foundation or base - I'll confess, I hate buying foundation. It's not fun or interesting, it's more of a necessity. Therefore, I use up every last bit of it!
  2. Mascara - I use my Haute & Naughty mascara from MAC every day. When I ran out a few weeks ago and was forced to use a few others I had laying around, it was torture. If you're used to your lashing looking a certain way, then you start using a mascara that just doesn't do it for you, it's miserable.
  3. Primers - whether it be the UD Primer Potion, or the MAC Prep + Prime face powder, I always find myself replacing them once they run out. Priming in my mind is necessary if you want your makeup to last longer!
  4. Eyeliner - black eyeliner (accompanied with a different eye shadow and mascara each day) is my go-to look most days. Replacing it is a must.
  5. Face toner & Makeup Remover - Again, not the most fun beauty products to buy, but I can't get by without them.

On the flip side, doing this little list made me think of all the products I DON'T use up. All the eyeshadows, lipsticks, glosses, perfumes, etc that I buy and just sit there after I tire of them. Of course, every beauty product you buy won't be ideal or perfect - that's the fun of trying new things. But I do feel like my makeup cabinet is somewhat of a beauty graveyard in a way. I know, kinda morbid but MOST things I buy I don't use up.

So what does that mean? I'm going to try and not buy as many things. I know, my heart is racing too at the thought of LESS makeup, but i'm going to make a conscious effort to only buy something if I'm in love with it.

What do you guys think, what products do you always use up? Also, what products do you never use up? I'd be interested to see if your answers are similar to mine! <3

Allure September 2011 Cover Has Arrived!

Alas! It's arrived! My favorite magazine's September issue has been revealed, and I cannot wait until it comes in the mail! I've always loved Salma, and i'm very pleased that they chose her as their cover girl. She looks amazing, makeup is subtle but pretty. Her hair is annoying me though.

What do you guys think, good cover?

August 2011 Magazine Covers - The Best & Worst

It's that time again! I feel like I just did all of the July covers (I was a bit behind) but here are some of the August 2011 magazine covers! Hope you enjoy...

Tilda Swinton for W Magazine
Oh.My.God.Love.
Tilda is known for being "outside the box" when it comes to fashion/beauty,
but I love this look! Very David Bowie-esque which is always a good thing.

Claudia Shiffer for Vogue Germany
This cover is so gorgeous! I wish I could pull off an eye mask like this on the regular.
Just show up at work like - hey guys, like my eye mask? I wish.

Model (?) for Shape
Who is this? If it's a model, that's interesting considering celebrities have
seemingly taken over magazine covers as of late.

SJP for Vogue
Hmmm I find it funny that it's the "age" issue, yet SJP is photoshopped to hell.
Mixed messages for sure.

Olivia Wilde for Marie Claire
Oh this is just lovely. She is so gorgeous, and just kills it in this photo.
I love the minimal makeup, it lets her beauty speak for itself.
Love the red on her, and the side swept bangs are great. Well done!

Mila and Justin for Elle
Not so sure about this one guys. Mila rules, but she doesn't look great here.
Looks like her hair needs a serious comb through it...
Justin is rocking a seriously weird expression on his face too

Kim Kardashian for Cosmo
Again??? Think Cosmo needs to get some new cover girls in their rotation
She looks good, even though I kinda hate the dress

Katie Holmes for In Style
Wow! This is a pleasant surprise. Mrs. Tom Cruise is looking awesome
on the this cover! I like the dress, natural but pretty makeup, hair is flowy and pretty.

Jessica Alba for Allure
Eh. Two months in a row, Allure has underwhelmed me with their cover.
I wanted a crazy, creative, high-drama makeup cover!
Better luck next month I guess...

Heidi Klum for Glamour
Cute! I feel like she always looks great though. She is a model after all =)

Anne Hathaway for Bazaar
Don't hate it but don't love it either.
She has such a pretty smile, that would have made this cover better!

Michelle Williams for Glamour Germany
I love this! Colorful, fun, a little weird!
The lashes and lips are perfect for her, brava.

Emma Stone for Vanity Fair
God I love her. But her red lips are STARING at me. And not in a good way.
Love her hair, the bathing suit, the fact that she isn't overly bronzed.
But the lips. Why so harsh? Wahhhh

Drew Barrymore for Nylon
Oh. Wow.
I get Nylon's urge to be "unique" but this is just a freakin mess.

Miranda Kerr for Vogue Australia
Gorge! What a pretty dress, and pretty girl!
Ms. Orlando Bloom kills it on this cover

Christina Hendricks for Lucky
Whoa, curves! I think she looks great!
On the red carpet she usually has a bold color on
so this is a nice change up, especially with her hair color.

What's your favorite August cover?! Share!

July 2011 Magazine Covers - The Best & Worst

Like most chicks, I get so jazzed when the next batch of new magazines come out each month. Below are most of the July 2011 magazine covers - mostly United States - and my thoughts.

Rihanna for Cosmo
I'm a huge Rihanna fan and think she looks awesome!
Still digging the bright red hair, and I love the cropped tops she's been rocking.
The softer makeup totally suits her with the wild hair/outfit

Zooey Deschanel for Self
I really really dig Zooey's vintage style.
I just watched (500) Days of Summer and it was amazing!
However, this cover is underwhelming to me.
Seems like she has no makeup on.

Lindsay for Vanity Fair
OK so this isn't a US mag, but Lilo is my guilty pleasure.
Say what you will about her, she can strike a pose

Rosie Huntington-Whitely for Maxim
WHOA. Just whoa. Sex kitten status.
I looove the winged liner and tousled hair
Megan Fox or Rosie H-W for Transformers?

Florence Welch for Nylon
Florence has been getting a lot of great attention lately, and it's so well deserved!
While I usually love how Nylon styles their cover girls, this is not my favorite cover.

Lauren Conrad for Lucky
Yawn.

Emma Watson for Vogue
DAMN! She's come so far from Harry Potter huh?
Aside from being the face of the Burberry campaign, she is one stylish chick
That berry red lip is kick ass!

Jennifer Aniston for Marie Claire
Well, the first place my eyes go are to the NO PANTS situation..
Aside from just wearing an over-sized men's blazer, I think the fun new hair works for her
And a nice smile always helps!

Fergie for Allure
Oh dear. God forgive me, but Fergie looks awful on this cover.
I feel like sometimes she looks great, and other times she looks...like this.
I think the makeup they used on her washes her out, especially the muted lip.

Eva Longoria for InStyle
The dress is cute. Otherwise, another yawn for me.
Pretty lady, but I feel like she looks the same on every mag cover

Emma Stone for Elle
YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!
The red lip! The obnoxious Big-Bird-esque dress! Back to being blonde!
I love it all.

Claudia Shiffer for Harper's Bazaar
This woman always looks hott no matter WHAT!
This cover has a Brigette Bardot type feel to it and I love it.

Miss Xtina for W
WOW. This was certainly an unexpected choice!
Aside from being naked, I almost didn't recognize her with the crazy/crimpy hair and
makeup that wasn't painted on. And no red lip?! I'm kinda loving this.

Blake Lively for Glamour
She looks hott, but it's business as usual.
I do like the eye liner, and how they got her long legs in the shot.
Otherwise, nothing new or exciting about this one.

Katy Perry for Rolling Stone
LOVE! I know I already posted this cover a few weeks back,
but needed to include it again because it's just so funny and cute!
Katy's makeup looks flawless too!

Audrina Patridge for Shape
I kinda feel like all The Hills alums are exhausting, so I
don't know if I can form a real opinion on this cover.
She has a great body, but I guess that's really it.
