Muppets OPI Collection - Animal-istic
I went to a new nail salon, and they had the Muppets OPI collection. Animal-istic really caught my eye - a bright orange-red - the perfect toe color in my opinion. It has a slight sparkle to it, which usually helps the polish to last a bit longer.
You guys like it? Has anyone else tried any colors from the Muppets? I really liked the sparkley green but I thought it almost too much haha.

Piggy Cupcakes and Friday Fierceness
I was fortunate enough to raise money through my company bake sale to support the BCRF (Breast Cancer Research Foundation). One of my besties - Melissa and I baked three different types of cupcakes - from scratch - and everyone died over them! Five hours later (and many laughs, mishaps, and icing covered bodies later) the cupcakes were done! Our cupcakes raised over $100 for the charity, and the piggies sold out in only 2 hours! So proud. See below for photos:
Although the cupcakes looked beautiful displayed and sitting pretty, there were still some...mishaps along the way:
And here is a little Friday Fierceness from yours truly. The colorful cupcakes inspired me to do a colorful photoshoot haha. Hope everyone has an amazing weekend!

The other two batches we made!
Purple - Dark chocolate cake with marshmallow filling
Pink - Red Velvet cake with cream cheese frosting
Bake Sale!
Marshmallow filing fail.
I didn't put the frosting in deep enough!
The infamous "orange" velvet.
We MAY have used yellow food coloring instead of red by mistake.
Then added a ton of red on top of the mustard-colored yellow.
I guess the orange was close enough for us HAHA!

Itty, Bitty Baby Sized Things
There is something about miniature versions of beauty products that send me over the edge. Seriously - how CUTE are these little guys?
I love around Christmas time when companies come out with gift sets like these - of course they are great for actual gift giving, but they can also be great for you. Yes, a present for YOU. You can sample a variety of different products for a reasonable price. If you really like something, you can buy the full size. If not, not so much harm done because you didn't pay tons of money on it.
I'm not a huge "look in a box" person - sets that have a mascara, eye shadow, blush, primer, etc in a big palette. They take up a lot of room and I end up not using some of the items. I tend to go for the gift sets that have the same product, but in a variety of shades or flavors. For example, the Tarte LipSurgence set that I bought a bit ago (click here to read view and see swatches) I get a lot of use out of, and happen to like all of the shades in the set!
Sephora does a great job with their Christmas sets, here are a few I would consider!

Beauty Quote of the Day
"Tom Ford Beauty is a collection I’m very proud of and very serious about. I’ve always been serious about makeup and cosmetics going back to when I was fourteen, and my mother had to take me to the emergency room because I was lying in the bathtub with cucumber slices on my eyes. She had to explain to the guys in the emergency room why her fourteen-year-old son had a giant infection in his eyes."

Interview with Violent Lips Creator Jeff Haddad
Lip tattoos have become very popular lately, and Violent Lips temporary lip tattoos are the first of their kind. Jeff Haddad and wife Isabella first came up with the idea for their company, when their daughters wore Chanel temp tattoos on their lips to a charity event. Though they looked cool, they didn't last very long throughout the night. The next day, they were on a mission to create a product that was safe for lips, easy to use, and of course fun! I saw this interview with Jeff Hadded on Happi.com and wanted to share with you guys. Enjoy!
HAPPI: What type of space did you see in the marketplace for lip tattoos and how did you go about creating the line?
JH: What we wanted to do was make a cool product with never ending styles and colors and patterns that was easy to use offering the consumer a safe long lasting alternative to traditional lip products. We didn’t actually consider the space in the market as a space for lip tattoos, we saw it as lip fashion.
Our focus is on the “wow” factor of the product itself and how we get these colors, glitters and metallics to look and work the way we want to for the consumer. By taking a few of the principle elements to removable tattoos and reformatting the rest we are able to do that. We have found and patented many ways to do this, but the key to us has always been the end result.
What you’re seeing at this early stage is like the first ipad, we have jumped about 10 levels from these first patterns. We think people are going to be very surprised with what’s coming and what it will mean to the daily use of lip products.
HAPPI: What are the key ingredients to your tattoos and how do they make the products work?
JH: The key ingredients are the inks, glitters and metallics and of course none of that would matter unless we used 100% safe and tested materials and adhesives. Our testing standard is for ages 3 and up, and while we don’t expect 3 year olds to wear the product, they can and that standard is important to our company. The product is FDA-approved, vegan and made in the US.
HAPPI: What type of consumer are you targeting with these products? Any celebrity fans?
JH: Artists like Jesse J, Katy Perry, Nikki Manaj and Ke$ha are always do amazing things with their lips. We are not going to say they are using our product, we will let the consumer find that out on their own. We have a lot of celebrity fans, you can check our Twitter or Facebook to see who sends us pictures on their own. We are not asking anyone to wear the lips, if they want to wear them they can and if they want to post pictures they can.
Our goal is to have a great product in the consumers’ hands and allow them to decide what color, pattern or style best suits them. We can tell you this, the person wearing Violent Lips gets noticed, they stand out from the rest of the pack and its pretty amazing to have people send us messages thanking us for doing this because they had “the best night ever” and tons of attention.
HAPPI: How did you decide on the colors/prints? Which one is the top seller and why?
JH: The first 18 designs are a mix we selected from about 250 total designs. We wanted to put a first run selection in the marketplace and let the consumer tell us what they liked.
We knew The Pink Cheetah and The Pink Polka would be huge sellers but we didn’t know The Rainbow and The Fishnet would be as big and would go over as well. The fact is that the customer always decides and we are able to move very fast. Some designs are already “deceased” and some are on “life support,” but the cool thing is that 28 more patterns launch soon and another 20+ patterns are right behind that. We listen and learn from every sale!
HAPPI: Future plans for the line? Any expansions or distribution deals in the works?
JH: At this stage, it is about the expansion of the lip line, as the glitters, new patterns and metallics get ready to roll out ,we continue to grow the company. We are in talks with several people about distribution and would love a major to come along and click their heals, but the fact is that we built this company so it can survive on its own and grow online daily so our primary focus must be on the product and the consumer.
So cool! I can't wait to see what other designs they come out with! Have you guys tried Violent Lips? I want to!!

Serum Psycho
So these are the face serums I use. Yes, all SIX of them. As many of you know, i'm at the age where I still need acne products, but also care about anti-aging elements. A big craze now in the beauty world, is serums that even out skintone and lighten dark spots. Below, see my thoughts as well as what each company has to say:
They say: Apply AM and PM, avoid eye area (really descriptive right?)
They say: Reclaim the natural radiance of even-toned, more youthful skin while helping to prevent future discoloration. This facial moisturizer contains a potent Micro-Radiance Complex and diminishes the look of discoloration for even, translucent, healthy looking skin. Also contains SPF 15 to help protect from UVA/UVB damage and future hyperpigmentation.Helps correct the look of discoloration, Helps prevent future hyperpigmentation with broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection, Evens skin tone for visible radiance. Price: $64.00
Dr. Weil for Origins
Mega Bright Skin Tone Correcting Serum
Makeup Majesty says: This one is my newest, and I believe just came out to the public. Unlike most Origins products, it doesn't have that unfortunate "Earthy" smell that I can't stand. It smells very pleasant, and is a bit thicker than most of the other serums. It goes on skin beautifully and feels really nice once it sets in. I just got this one, so I can't comment on long term benefits of evening skintone just yet. Stay tuned!
They say: The first fast-acting Serum from Estée Lauder Research proven to dramatically reduce the look of uneven skintone: redness, acne marks, dark spots, sun spots and discolorations. Price: $58.00.
Estee Lauder
Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator
MM says: I won't lie, i'm in love with this. I actually get excited to use it every morning. It smells fantastic, and since I have been using this one the longest it looks like my skin is brighter and some of my acne marks have faded. Another thing I love - not only is it repairing your skin, but this serum gives you that all over "glow" - kind of like NARS Luminizer but in a skincare product. There has been a ton of press around this product, and I'll be honest - totally worth all the hype! Despite having six face serums, I think I will replace this one once i'm out. I don't know if I can live without it now!
They say: This supercharged, fast absorbing concentrate brings together pomegranate’s plentiful reserves of anti-oxidants with Himalayan goji berry – known as the fruit of endurance, resistant to the tests of extreme climates and time. It brightens skin and boosts its ability to recover from the daily attack of pollution and environmental factors by reducing, neutralizing and repairing skin damage caused by harmful free radicals as you sleep. Price: $32.50 at Kohl's.
grassroots
Pomegranate Overnight Recovery Serum
MM says: This one makes me happy! It smells fabulous and the bottle is bright and cheery - yes, it's the little things in life guys. It's also good if you're unsure about serums and such - for $32, it's a lot less expensive to try this one vs. other department store brands. It's very light and thin, and dries quickly - easy to put makeup over.
They say: Discover a more youthful appearance morning and night. Powerful, scientifically tested anti-aging ingredients stimulate youthful cell renewal by 85% in only five days and 150% over time. Patented ingredient technology promotes youthful skin structure, stimulating collagen production by 150% and reducing MMP production twofold (MMPs destroy skin structure). ageLOC Future Serum- for a visibly younger appearance. Price: $200+
Nu Skin
ageLOC Future Serum
MM says: OK so before you all think i'm crazy, my mom gave me this serum simply because she didn't like it. A $200 face serum for free? Sure, hand it over! The regimen i've gotten into, is I use the Estee Lauder Illuminator in the morning, and the Nu Skin at night. The Nu Skin is a bit thicker, and takes longer to dry so I usually put it on after I wash my face at night. I don't know if it's in my head or not, but the formula just feels luxurious and rich. Totally a splurge, but when it comes to your face it's important! At least that's what I try to convince myself when dropping major $$$ on beauty products =)
They say: 88% of the visible wrinkle-reducing power of a prescription. 0% irritation

MM says: There has been a ton of press surrounding Planscription, and everyone seems to love it. I haven't used it steadily for 4 weeks so I don't know if the claim is true. The other problem is, since I use so many different products it's difficult to pinpoint what is really working and what isn't. Oh the life of a beauty addict! The difference between this and the other Origins serum (Mega-Bright), is Planscription is more of an anti-aging serum, while the Mega Bright is more of a skin tone corrector for dark spots and imperfections. The Mega-Bright just seems to have a younger customer, which is why I like it better between the two. And this one is very earthy smelling which i'm not a fan of.
MM says: I like this one, because it's a moisturizer with the same benefits as a serum, and it has SPF. For the winter, my skin gets very dry so I usually need a moisturizer AND serum. This one is kind of a two in one, and it always helps when something has SPF in it to protect you from future damage. Though it's a moisturizer, it's very thin like a veil which I like. This one was another gift from mom, so for $64 I don't know if i'll be replacing it or not. Looking good is expensive huh? =)
So, this is the longest post ever huh? I hope you guys read something you liked, or learned something new =) I can't really chose a "favorite" from the above - they are all different and great in their own ways. Do you guys use face serums? If so, share with us! Maybe i'll add a 7th to my roster? haha
