Flirt with Me

Behold: my new favorite gloss! Now, some of you are thinking “did she break her makeup ban?” No, I haven’t…yet =)

This is a gloss I got about a month ago, and haven’t reviewed it yet. It’s called Big Flirt – Sheer and Shiney Lipgloss in Bigger Than Rose. The number one reason I like it so much, is the oversized applicator! It almost feels like a little pillow on your lips. It makes application so easy – one swipe on the top lip, one swipe on the bottom, and you’re done. I can almost do it without a mirror now, since the applicator covers your entire lip.

The texture is on the creamy side, and is also a bit thick. I like this, because it makes it last longer. It’s not tacky or sticky, or I would toss it in the trash =) I'm usually more of a lipstick chick, but as the weather is changing I sometimes favor a gloss in warmer weather. See below for photos!

Look at that pretty, fluffy doe foot applicator!!
Love the polka dotted tube also

Just to compare the size, I took my Smashbox undereye brighter wand
and put it up against the Flirt gloss applicator. HUGE, right?

It was kind of hard to photograph (like many glosses are) but here's one with the flash on.
You can see the tiny flecks of sparkle in it!

Hope everyone has an excellent weekend! I know i've been kind of sucking in the posting department, work has been so insanely busy this week! I have an awesome line up of products that I have to write reviews for, stay tuned! xoxo

Smashbox Lipgloss in Pink Sugar

Hi dolls! So I got a TON of makeup from Santa, and I'm going to start reviewing it for you =) This Smashbox lipgloss is so pretty - just the right amount of glitter and silkiness. Since I feel beyond pale lately (is it summer yet?) I've been opting for lighter lip colors to avoid looking like a total vampire. Dark smokey eyes and a pale lip is what I've been favoring lately.

Is there anything groundbreaking about this gloss? Not really. I have seemingly hundreds of pink glosses, but it's a pretty color that I've been reaching for. You guys like it? Can't wait to share all the reviews that I have coming up! xoxo

Kate Spade Goes Beauty with Lipstick Collaboration!

I just read in Women's Wear Daily that Kate Spade will be doing a lipstick collaboration with one of my favorite new brands - Poppy King!

Here are the facts about the new Kate Spade lipstick collection:
  • The limited edition 4 lipstick collection will be called Supercalifragilipstick (yes, really)
  • The formula will be more of a lipstick/lipgloss hybrid (which i'm stoked about) and are supposed to be very hydrating. They also promise hours of wear and shades that will speak to the Kate Spade customer.
  • Lipsticks will be $24
  • The lipsticks will be sold in Kate Spade stores, and on katespade.com and should launch sometime in the fall season
  • The collection will be completed with makeup bags with various lipstick prints, compacts, a lipstick-themed scarf and a lipstick journal.
I think this is so cool! Kate Spade has been a long time favorite of mine in the purse department (my recent purchase was a great gold tote bag that i've been using every day). I think it will be interesting to see what the formula is like, considering they are collaborating with Poppy King who already makes killer products.

What do you guys think?

Lipgloss That Doesn't Stick to Your Hair...SERIOUSLY.

Girl Powder Active Lipgloss

Bubblegum, Pineapple, Strawberry

Pretty Swatches

The lovely people at Girl Powder were nice enough to send me these lipglosses to try. After talking to them via Twitter, I dug a little deeper to see what the Active Lipgloss "promised" me.

The website states that "it won't stick to you hair" while on lips. Now, I found this VERY hard to believe, considering every gloss sticks to hair. You know, you're walking along 5th Ave in New York, looking fly, and a gust of wind blows your hair onto your lips and BAM, goopy gross gloss all tangled in your hair. So not cute. I've been talking to my followers on Twitter, and one of the main concerns about gloss is the sticky factor.

I got my Girl Powder package in the mail and was so eager to try it. My first reaction was how pretty the colors were and the shimmery aspect of the formula. But all I REALLY cared about at that point was the sticky test. I tried the Strawberry gloss first - slopped it on my lips quickly then went outside on my balcony for the "hair test."

It passed.

I can't even explain it. I half expected my hair to get stuck to my lips. It didn't. And it is a lip GLOSS too, not a balm. Needless to say, I was delighted and surprised!

Aside from passing the sticky test, the scents of the 3 glosses are very punchy and fun. The gloss itself is on the sheer side, which is nice when you don't want a big, bold lip. I've also experimented with wearing a regular lipstick, then topping it off with the clear one (Pineapple). It makes a played out lipstick become alive again and look polished. I will definitely be bringing these glosses on my next beach trip, and next winter on my skiing trips!

Thanks again to Girl Powder for being so awesome! Click here to check out their site: Girl Powder

Makeup Majesty approved. xoxo

Tiny, Tasty Treats

Mini Cupcake Lipglosses!

So Sparkly!

My best friend came to visit this weekend (yay) and bought me these adorable little cupcake lipglosses!

I, of course, screeched when I saw them because

#1 I LOVE CUPCAKES
#2 They're tiny and cute
#3 They're makeup, so DUH.

Kind of similar to the H&M cupcake lipgloss I reviewed a while back (click here for post) except these are smaller, and smell SO GOOD (one like strawberry, the other like cake)

Cute, right? Happy Makeup Monday dolls!

Pretty Pink Spring Things

Mini cupcakes I baked for work!

Mini pink clock and Hello Kitty on my desk

No caption needed ha!

My notebook

Pretty tree outside my apartment building

MAC lipstick in Chatterbox / NARS lipgloss in Angelika

Very pink lips!

Just wanted to do a pretty pink inspired post on this lovely Friday! I'm not usually a huge pink person, but I was seeing a theme today - flowers, lipstick, cupcakes, etc so I just ran with it =)

The NARS lipgloss is new, and I've been wearing it an awful lot - love it alone or on top of a lipstick as seen above.

You guys like it? =)

Pure Color Ecstasy

My two new obsessions from Estee Lauder:

Raspberry Pop Sparkle

I adore this lip gloss! I've been using it almost every day and it's beautiful. The shade looks very intense in the tube - almost like a deep berry - which I normally wouldn't go for. But once I swatched it on my hand (always the key) I loved it!

The formula is so silky and NOT sticky or tacky whatsoever. It wears very well, considering the hot summer weather, and it smells delicious. The Pure Color lip gloss line is new to Estee Lauder, and comes in 31 shades (!) and in a variety of finishes. Definitely worth a try, I can't get enough!

Sizzling Copper Metallic

The Pure Color eyeshadow is great as well! I lean towards goldish shades (I have hazel eyes - I feel like the gold brings out the green) and this one is really pretty. I like wearing it alone with a bit of mascara for work - it looks fresh and clean. It also works for the inner corners of the eyes if you're doing a smokey eye. After priming my lids, the eyeshadow stayed put fairly well.

Overall, adore the Pure Color line from Lauder and think it's worth a look next time you're shopping!! Anyone else try some shades?

Burberry Beauty is BELLA

Makeup snobs rejoice!

Burberry's beauty line has finally hit counters, and it looks just as beautiful as the clothing! The beauty line, which is sold currently at Nordstrom, includes lipsticks, lip liners, glosses, eye pencils, shadows, mascara, foundation, blush, powder and bronzer.

The beautiful pieces are inspired by, what else, Burberry's trademark trench coat. As reported by WWD online, the Burberry beauty line generated about $10,000 in only 5 hours in San Francisco! Crazy, huh? Currently, the makeup is sold only at 5 Nordstrom locations. The company plans to roll out the line to 30 stores within the next year.

But don't expect the Burberry line to give into fads or trends. They want their products to be classic, and plan to expand the line each season. The laser engraved makeup and luxurious packaging comes with a hefty price tag (it is Burberry, afterall). Lipsticks are $30, Bronzer is $48, etc. Being the makeup addict I am, it will be hard for me not to at least try ONE thing. I mean, it's research...right? If i'm spending $30 on a lipstick, it better make me look like Marilyn Monroe..

What do you guys think?

tokidoki prisma gloss - diamante

Hmm ok so i've been MIA for like a week, apologies! Hope everyone had an amazing 4th of July weekend =)

OK, so the prisma gloss is....ehh. Once again, I got sucked into the utter and complete cuteness of the packaging, and completely ignored the actual product.

The gloss is a strange texture - almost syrupy. It's very clear and gives the "wet lips" look. Not terrible, but not my cup of tea. It does have a pleasant smell though - like a strawberry/fruity scent.

I've tried a few times to take it out and play with it a bit, but don't like how it feels on. I've also tried putting it on top of a few different lipsticks, but it doesn't go on smoothly. So all in all, cute packaging but the prisma gloss isn't for me.

Sorry ladies! I really don't like writing negative reviews, but always want to give you the truth =) Anyone have any new favorite products I should try?

Too Faced - Glamour Gloss in Plush

Totally an impulse buy. But in this case, it was a good impulse buy!

I was in Sephora makeup-whoring around when i spotted the sparkly, rhinestone on top of the gloss (ohhh shiny things!)

After further investigation, I noticed that Glamour Gloss had a wide variety of flattering shades. I swatched a few on my hand (as always) and decided on Plush - browny pink shade. It looks great on olive skin =)

The texture is on the thicker side, and has nice pigmentation to it. I often chose glosses that are too sheer, but the Glamour Gloss has a good amount of colour.

One thing I didn't notice before I bought it, was the package says "Volumizing Lip Gloss" with lip injection comfort plump. Therefore, it does give you that tingly sensation when you apply it. I'm not too big on lip plumpers (they don't work at all for plumping purposes) but this gloss ha nice color and texture so I can live with the temporary tingling =)

I know, I buy entirely too many lip glosses (blame it on the makeup addiction) but this is not a shade I would typically choose so I think it's totally justified!

Has anyone else tried it? Have you found your "it" lipgloss for the summer? Share!

MAC SUPERGLASS!!!!!!!

Aren't they beautiful?!?! Like a true makeup addict, I purchased the Superglass the first day it was on counter! Now, all 5 are not for me, they are gifts! From left: Sweet Tart, Sugar Overload, and Gift Wrap. The others two are doubles =)

With flash. From left - Sweet Tart, Sugar Overload, Gift Wrap

Without flash

Gift Wrap on my lips =)

MAC Superglass comes in nine shades, and is described as "a shattered, decimated, fantastic, intergalactic lip light." It truly is a one of a kind product, and MAC lovers all over have been waiting for its arrival!

I have to say, it's unlike anything that I have ever purchased. It's a stand-out, get noticed product that has glitter flecks and highly-pigmented color. It's glamorous and gaudy all at once and I love everything about it. The tube itself is even different than the original - ribbed and edgy. In other words...LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

Who else got one?

Applicator Allure

I started studying all the different types of applicators that my lipglosses have - short and long doe-foots, triangle doe-foots, short and long brushes, etc. How do these applicators effect the way our gloss looks? What is the best applicator and method? Here are a few that i've spotted so far:

tokidoki prisma lipgloss - Flexible Silicone Paddle Applicator

One of the newer applicators on the market, the paddle applicator is great for glosses that are very liquidy, like this prisma gloss. It's almost like a mini spatula for your lips. It feels smooth to the touch, and applies product evenly to the lips.

Benefit benetint pocketpal - Traditional Doe-Foot Applicator

Probably the most common lipgloss applicator, the doe-foot is a never fail. It's great, because you can apply almost any type of gloss with it easily. Some chicks even use it for certain lipsticks. It's been around forever, but the question remains - is it the best option? Or just the most common?

Tarina Tarantino Gem Gloss - Long Doe-Foot Applicator

A slight twist on the traditional doe-foot, this one is more flexible and holds more product. I like it because you have more control over where the gloss goes. The applicator curves with your lips and gives you a more even finish.

Lancome Color Fever Gloss - Triangle Doe-Foot

This applicator is unique to Lancome - they call it the "Lip-Magnify Applicator." It scoops up the product and allows for plentiful application.

Hourglass Lipgloss - Brush Applicator

Not sure how I feel about the brush applicator. With lighter colors it seems to work OK, but with darker shades it seems to streak and leave some lines. I usually end up fixing the lines with my finger tips to ensure I have a perfect pucker =)

Lip Fusion Infatuation - Short Brush Applicator

I've seen this shorter brush applicator in many new lipglosses lately. Unlike the traditional brush, the shorter one gives you more freedom to paint on your gloss and avoids the dreading streaking. It's been popping up everywhere, from Lip Fusion to YSL to LORAC. A new trend emerging, perhaps?

Do you ladies favor a certain type of applicator? Let us know! xoxo

Brazilian Presents!

One of my very special friends was sweet enough to bring me back some presents from her native country, Brazil! I have been there many times as well, and it is one of my favorite places on earth.

Above are two dual-sided lipglosses, chocolate, and a pair of Brazilian sandals. Though they are not available in the US, I just wanted to share them with you ladies! xoxo

More H&M Treats!

They keep coming! I was in H&M desperately trying to find some cute summer dresses (it didn't happen) but I did come across even MORE beauty products that they have added to their inventory - little lip gloss disco balls! Check them out:

What do you ladies think? Would you purchase any beauty products from H&M?

Swatch Me Pretty

I'm a huge believer in "try before you buy." Let's be serious - if I learned that a long time ago, would I own THIS MUCH MAKEUP?!

Swatching is simply trying a small amount of product on your hand, lips, eyes, etc. This way, you can see how the color actually looks on you and feel out the texture of the product. This may seem like common sense to some, but often times we are so hyper and desperate for new makeup (i'm GUILTY) that we'll just buy something based on how it looks in the package or tube.

The color of the packaging itself can alter how the product looks in the tube. Then, probably the most awful thing that can happen, you get your new pink lipgloss home and try it out...and it's all WRONG. "Oh...I thought it would be pinker, sheerer, less glittery..." Below are some of my favorite pretty pink treats, and what they look like on paper.

Clockwise from top left:

*Dior Addict - Ultra Gloss Reflect 257
*Lip Fusion - Glow
*Lancome Juicy Tubes - Ultra Brilliant
*Too Faced - Girls Dig Pearls in Shell
*Revlon - Super Lustrous Gloss in Pink Afterglow
*MAC - Dazzleglass in Bare Necessity
*Urban Decay - Pocket Rocket in Doug
*Tarina Tarantino - Disco Nap

As you can see, some glosses have more glitter, more pigment and so on. Next time you are on the market for a new gloss, try a few colors next to each other on your hand or arm and compare them. What looks better on your skin tone? Which one is silkier, stickier, darker, etc. As my mother always says "If you're not in love with it, leave it."
