Pure Color Sensuous Rouge - 3 Shades!

Last week, I shared with you my “wish list” for the fall season. WELL, needless to say I caved and had to get something right? I got not one, but three shades of the Estee Lauder Pure Color Sensuous Rouge lipstick (what a long name huh?) Below are a few photos of each, I tried my best to capture what each shade actually looked like on camera. The shades I got are – Rose Exposed, Fig & Plum Fatale. I really went outside the box with these – I wanted colors that I don’t already have and give my fall makeup a new spin.

The first impression I had was – the shades look extremely dark in the tube, but on lips they are gorgeous and nicely pigmented. They seem to be pretty long wearing which is a must for me. The idea behind these, is there is a moisturizing core in the middle and the lipstick wrapped around it. Check out them out, let me know what you guys think!

From left: Rose Exposed, Plum Fatale & Fig

Rose Exposed

Without flash - I really like this color. A bit of red & pink

With flash - a nice fall color with rosy cheeks

Fig

I never usually do browns, but wanted to switch it up. Rawrrr

Has a little sheen to it

Plum Fatale

No flash. It's so vampy!

No flash

With flash - has a slight sparkle to it but in a classy way

With flash. I used to be afraid of wearing plum but I love this!

Thoughts after using each:

The Rose Exposed is the safest of the 3 - just a bit different from what lipstick I usually wear.

Fig isn't my favorite, but I wanted to try a brownish shade. Not sure how that will go - to be continued.

Plum Fatale - I was so pleasantly surprised by this shade! As you can see, it looks so dark in the tube - almost black. But on lips, it is just so fun and different. I can totally see myself wearing it out to dinner - with very minimal eye makeup to avoid looking like a psycho.

What do you guys think?

"LOVE" Lipstick

How cute is that!!

Chelsea Rose by Estee Lauder

Blue/pink shade

Love it!

Kiss! Me with no foundation :::shrieks:::
Just kidding. But not really.

I got this Estee Lauder lipstick a while ago, and like a true makeup addict it sat in my makeup drawer untouched, unopened, and left for dead. OK maybe not left for dead, but sometimes I buy makeup and literally forget about it. Ridiculous, right?

Anyway, I "discovered" this lipstick today when I was looking for a little change in my makeup routine. There it was - still in its package. I applied it and actually really love it! First of all, the "LOVE" engraved on the side makes me smile. Second of all, it's a great blue/pink lipstick when i'm really tan. And currently that is the case, considering I just came back from visiting Mickey Mouse in Florida =) I also wanted a little bit of a pop in color - today is day 2 of wearing no foundation to work (yes, really) - so this lipstick did just that. Not too overdone, just enough color.

Side note: I wear foundation, concealer, the works every day. Since I'm tan, I wanted to give my face a much needed break and let it breathe a bit. It feels AMAZING. I just put on this lipstick, a bit of mascara and some moisturizer. Anyway, enough of the rambling. You guys like the shade?

Estee Lauder Flash Mob at Herald Square!

Spontaneous dance! Lovesit!

I think flash mobs are so hilarious and ridiculous, so I felt very fortunate to witness one today! Estee Lauder has a new product out called the Even Skintone Illuminator:

To raise awareness for this new super face serum (which I own, of course and it really is awesome), they hired a dance company to put on a flash mob in the middle of Herald Square in NYC outside of Macy's! Music was blasting while synchronized dancers put on quite the show as onlookers took video and photos of the event.

The product promises to reduce the look of "uneven skintone" - redness, acne marks, dark spots, sun spots and discoloration. Aside from that, the serum gives you that Hollywood "glow" that everyone always looks for in summer products. It's fairly lightweight and dries quickly so you can apply makeup over it!

Overall, flash mob success.

Remember Colored Mascara?

It's back with a vengeance! When I was a teenager, I couldn't get enough of the stuff - the bolder the better! My basketball team's colors were blue and gold. What better way to show team spirit then some blue-tinted lashes? Maybe a bit of HAIR mascara (remember that too? oh god).

Despite my teenage overdose with colored mascara, I'm still very interested in all the options that are out there now. Every brand under the sun is churning out a rainbow of shades - Dior, Estee Lauder, MAC, Urban Decay, NYX, and so on.

So is there a way to wear these without looking silly or clownish? Or should colored mascara be saved for nights out on the town?

Makeup Enthusiast Interview - Melissa Marie Edition

I'm starting a new segment on Makeup Majesty, and the very lovely (and sometimes sassy) Melissa Marie has been volunteered to be my first victim muhahaha!

Pretty Princess

No but seriously - the new segment will include interviews with a variety of my friends/family/others to get their views on makeup, beauty and everything in between! So, instead of just getting my perspective on things, you'll be able to see what other makeup lovers are...well, loving.

As for Melissa, her and I graduated college together, and now live down the street from each other outside of NYC. Nights together are spent hysterically laughing, guini fist pumping in the car, splurging at Ulta on any and everything, lots of cooking and baking cupcakes, and the occasional Houlihan's antics. Mel is one of the only people I know that can go out without makeup and be perfectly confident - and look fly doing it! She's sharp, and will cut you in half with her words if need be. But to me, she is one of the greatest friends I could ask for and I just want to squeeze her! OK enough with the mushy shit -- Mel is a tough critic on makeup (as everyone should be) so here is what went down - interview time!

Fly sans makeup!

1. Top 5 Makeup Items EVER

  • Bare Minerals Original Mineral Makeup (Medium tone, including Warmth and Mineral Veil)
  • Dior SHOW BLACKOUT Mascara
  • Bed Head eyeshadow (all colors)
  • Almay hypoallergenic retractable black eye liner (for my water line)
  • Cargo Swimmables eye pencils (I hate you for this one, Mel)

2. If I could only bring ONE makeup item on vacation

Bare Minerals Original Mineral Makeup - I really hope that they never STOP producing this. I will never go back to another foundation ever again. It covers up my red spots and blemishes, and really gives me an even one color look. Especially when complimented with Warmth (the bronzer that comes in the Bare Minerals starter kit) really makes your cheeks pop- in a subtle way! It doesn't clog my pores, is light- and doesn't streak or come off when I sweat. Its a must-have, LADIES!

3. Biggest Makeup Pet peeve on others

Uneven eyeliner on the top lid of the eye. When one eye has eyeliner thicker than the other, I go BANANAS! Oh, and when women don't apply their eyeliner close enough to their lashes- and you see that gap of skin between lashes and eyeliner makes me levitate out of my seat.

4. Thoughts on permanent makeup...

One of my colleagues from South Africa has permanent eyeliner, and she loves it! I asked her if it hurt and the natural response obviously was "yes", but she said it was TOTALLY worth it. She says it is very easy to get up in the morning, get out of the shower and voila- your makeup is already done. However, I am too neurotic to have something permanent on my face. Also, I am an eyebrow nazi (for lack of a better term) and I could never part with my already fabulous eyebrows. Permanent lip liner? No. Although I have 3 tattoos right now, none are near my face, and I'd like to keep it that way.

5. Favorite makeup brand overall

I'm an equal opportunity employer and I can't really pick ONE favorite. I have a lot of favorites- I can't pick just one. ALTHOUGH- I just recently tried a new mascara by Estee Lauder - Sumptuous Extreme - and its coming to the top of my obsessions. Sorry, Mr. Dior.

Loved her answers! Do you guys agree? Here are some of the makeup items mentioned in her interview!

Stay tuned for more interviews dolls!

Orange You Glad...

Orange makeup trends are EVERYWHERE - from luxury cosmetics, to mass cosmetics, catwalks and sidewalks. Here are some of my favorite orange things for Spring!

The most moisturizing lipstick I've ever owned! Looks a bit pink in the photo, but it's actually little orange. It's by Kiss cosmetics - Just-Kissed Lipstick in Golden Orange. It glides on so silky and smooth, feels like you're wearing lip balm. Beyond obsessed.

This is what it looks like on lips, again it's more orange in person than in the photo! I love wearing it with a nice coat of mascara and a dusting of blush - it looks very fresh!

These three items have been my skincare savior to beat the rainy weather blues! The company is called grassroots and you'll never guess where it's sold...Kohl's! Not my usual "go-to" store for skincare or beauty, but believe me - these items are amazing! Everything is Vitamin C (large jar is the face creme, smaller jar is the eye creme, tube is the brightening serum). When I use them in the morning, the citrus smell wakes me up and it feels so fresh on the face. Def worth a try chicks!

Fergie rocks orange shadow on stage

A different take on the trend - orange-red

The orange shadow with the bold liner makes a statement!

Another orange-red by Estee Lauder, and a gloss on top by Smashbox

What do you guys think? Loving the orange trend or not your thing? Share with us! xo

I Took the Plunge - Red Lippy!

I finally did it! For those of you that have been following me for a while (kiss!) you know that i've been dying to try red lips for a while, I just could never find the right shade.

I got this Estee Lauder Signature Lipstick in Spanish Red as a gift. To be honest, I was ready to "re-gift" it (I know, awful right?) But then I thought...maybe...it would look good on me?

Some Motley Crue music and a few glasses of Chianti later, this was the result. And I really liked it!! I don't know how comfortable I would be wearing it out somewhere, but I really loved the shade and texture of the lipstick.

I started going in the "red" direction, by purchasing an NYX lipgloss in red (see review in previous posts). I absolutely loved it, but since it was a gloss it wasn't bold enough. I felt like I needed to go the extra mile...branch out so to speak.

What do you guys think, cute??? xoxo

Estee Lauder - Blue Dahlia

I am digging the new Estee Lauder Blue Dahlia compacts! I want the blue shades, but am a little nervous to take the blue eye shadow plunge. I think it looks fun and bold when I see it on other people...but I always think i'm going to look like some chick at an 80's dive bar.

What do you guys think about bold blue shadow?

Pure Color Ecstasy

My two new obsessions from Estee Lauder:

Raspberry Pop Sparkle

I adore this lip gloss! I've been using it almost every day and it's beautiful. The shade looks very intense in the tube - almost like a deep berry - which I normally wouldn't go for. But once I swatched it on my hand (always the key) I loved it!

The formula is so silky and NOT sticky or tacky whatsoever. It wears very well, considering the hot summer weather, and it smells delicious. The Pure Color lip gloss line is new to Estee Lauder, and comes in 31 shades (!) and in a variety of finishes. Definitely worth a try, I can't get enough!

Sizzling Copper Metallic

The Pure Color eyeshadow is great as well! I lean towards goldish shades (I have hazel eyes - I feel like the gold brings out the green) and this one is really pretty. I like wearing it alone with a bit of mascara for work - it looks fresh and clean. It also works for the inner corners of the eyes if you're doing a smokey eye. After priming my lids, the eyeshadow stayed put fairly well.

Overall, adore the Pure Color line from Lauder and think it's worth a look next time you're shopping!! Anyone else try some shades?

Major Beauty Industry News!

plus

equals

This is very exciting! The Estee Lauder Companies have purchased Smashbox Cosmetics as part of their portfolio, Yahoo Finance and many other sources have confirmed today.

The Estee Lauder Companies own many amazing beauty brands already - Estee Lauder, Clinique, MAC Cosmetics, DKNY, Tom Ford, La Mer, Bobbi Brown, just to name a few. Now, Smashbox Cosmetics will be under the Estee Lauder umbrella.

I think creative and innovative things are in store for us...imagine a Smashbox & MAC collaboration? Brilliant!

I'm in love with the new Smashbox color story - Heartbreaker. It's super girly - pretty pinks and peaches. As reviewed previously, the felt-tip eye liner pen is one of my favorite new products! What Smashbox products do you guys use?
